3rd grade classes are spending class in five different stations that work on note reading and meter! In the photos below Mrs. Strickland's classStudents use notes to write their own piece of music by hand as well as on the computer, they build rhythms in different meters using rhythm building blocks, they sort notes based on how many beats there are and they answer flash cards! 3rd grade classes are learning about how beats in music can be strong and weak and grouped together certain ways - this is called meter! We used familiar songs like "Yankee Doodle," "Take Me Out to the Ball Game" and "This Old Man," to practice different meters!
