We are bouncing tennis balls in music class to show the difference between notes with one, two and fours beats! It practices a steady beat as well as some hand-eye coordination! In the video below Mrs. Fitzpatrick's class shows "ta," one beat notes and "ta-m," two beat notes. Trying hold on to the ball was half the battle! 3rd grade classes are learning about how beats in music can be strong and weak and grouped together certain ways - this is called meter! We used familiar songs like "Yankee Doodle," "Take Me Out to the Ball Game" and "This Old Man," to practice different meters!
