3rd grade classes are learning about how beats in music can be strong and weak and grouped together certain ways - this is called meter! We used familiar songs like "Yankee Doodle," "Take Me Out to the Ball Game" and "This Old Man," to practice different meters! In the video below Mrs. Joslin's class shows one of the stick patterns we learned to accompany "This Old Man." Third grade classes are becoming composers! They are using quarter notes (ta) and eight notes (ti-ti) to create a short piece of music. Classes are are also adding instrument parts to the song "Great Big House." There are four different parts that they learn, Mrs. Joslin's class does a great job performing the video below! It is hard to believe December is over! 3rd grade classes had some fun before the break, with a cup passing game to "Trepek" from "The Nutcracker Suite." Mrs. Fitzpatrick's class shows us how it's done. |
