2nd Grade students learned a new note, Do! Students learned to sing and play the notes Mi, Re, and Do on the glockenspiel! Mrs. Parks class did a great job being patient and ready to play at the end of the song! I am so proud of all the 2nd grade students! They did a fabulous job with their program yesterday!! I hope everyone who came and saw enjoyed it as much as we did singing it! Great job 2nd grade! If you missed the show, below are the two evening performances! Program A is Neese, Reaves, and Jones, and Program B is Parks, Spears, and Berry.

We're talking about different holidays in music class and the different ways that people celebrate them! In honor of Hanukkah we learned movement to an Isreali folksong! We also talked about the food that we eat only around this time of year! In groups of four, students came up with a holiday treat and their own unique hand clap to accompany it! They came up with some great ideas! A lot of the 2nd grade classes have earned their GAMES DAY!! For great behavior and participation in music class! One of the music games we play is "Charlie Over the Ocean." In this game one student is the leader (or "Charlie") and sings the song while the class repeats! "Charlie" tags someone at the end of the song and has to try to get to their square before they tag them! Mrs. Berry's class had a lot of fun playing this game! We are talking about some fall topics in music class, including squirrels! Our song “Let Us Chase the Squirrel” Students learn a new rhythm to accompany on xylophones! Of course we had to add some other sounds effects too! Students got to get creative with our song “Chimney Sweep.” Students worked with a partner to create a partner clap to go along with our song! Students came up with the craziest things! Here are a few from Mrs. Park’s class. Draw a Bucket of WaterStudents learned to move to a half note beat to our song “Draw a Bucket of Water.” They love the game that goes along with the some too! This year we are listening to a Musician of the Week! This week’s musician was the composer Beethoven! We listened to Beethoven’s 5th Symphony in 2nd Grade, we learned two musical terms “forte” (or loud) and “piano” (quiet). Students came up with movements to represent each term and we moved to the music! |
